Youth unemployment and underemployment has become a major challenge in almost all African countries especially in Nigeria with high youth demographic profiles is even more at risk. Further, negative growth means decreasing work opportunities and the need for alternative means of job creation. However, there is a big potential for entrepreneurship in Nigeria than elsewhere in Africa.

This Ideation Workshop is all about understanding the Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship (FoE) and about generating, developing, and evaluating ideas for launching viable new ventures. The programme is an excellent opportunity to learn essential business and financial skills while developing the confidence required running a successful business. If you are interested in the topic of entrepreneurship but not yet sure what it is you would like to create, this workshop is the right place to start for you.

IARSA is all about empowering youth below the age of 30, to get started running and operating their own business. Whether small, medium or big, whether social enterprise of full for profit, we have got you covered.

We delivered a range of training and support services to help break the cycle of poverty by supporting entrepreneurial youths to create businesses of their own and acquire the skills that will last a lifetime and give prospects for networking.

We provide interactive entrepreneurial experience to young entrepreneurs. Participants will develop new skills, hone their existing ones, and identify how their abilities can tie into business management. We will introduce you to the modern theories and practices and help you to develop your skills in order to become a successful entrepreneur.

During the programmes, participants go through a series of assessments in order to understand their pros and cons and the way to be effective at work or in personal life. Each participant receives individual recommendations and certificate.

In its efforts to support competitiveness and employment in Nigeria, IARSA focuses on start-up youth entrepreneurship includes:
Career guidance on entrepreneurship supporting the transition from education to start-up and beyond.

Promoting policy dialogue between education, business and banking communities to close the gap between training and access to finance.

Promotion of an education, research, professional development and training environment in which young people are able to develop the appropriate mindset and skills for entrepreneurship.

Establishing quality outreach programmes involving training and mentoring services through good practice peer learning.

A joined-up policy framework for youth entrepreneurship involving public, private and civic institutions particularly including young entrepreneurs.

Aims:

  • To support youth workers to develop their understanding and competences in the field of entrepreneurial learning.
  • To help youth to raise awareness about the entrepreneurial potential of their “Youth in Action” projects (in particular youth initiatives).

Objectives:

  • The workshop objectives were designed to help participants interested in entrepreneurship develop the skills to:
    Enable participants to develop an attitude, mindset, and skills that are crucial for becoming a creative business person.
  • The ability to assess the commercial viability of a new idea.
  • Transform ideas into business opportunities.
  • Gain knowledge to seize opportunities, organize and finance viable initiatives through to fruition.
  • Offer space for exchanging experiences and good practices in the field of entrepreneurial learning among players in three fields: non-formal education, formal education and business.
  • Share tools and methods to encourage and prepare young people to undertake entrepreneurial activities as a follow-up of their “Youth in Action” project

Programme

2-Day programme

First Day – Workshops on youth start-up entrepreneurship, youth participation in business, youth start-ups.

Second Day: The participants interact with business leaders, CEOs, COOs and entrepreneurs. The participants meet the founders, business leaders, CEOs, COOs and entrepreneurs of successful start-ups who share their experience and tips; discussion of various business cases and sharing ideas on the development of start-ups and receiving feedback.

Fee

  • The fee for the course is N20, 000. The fee includes:
