The Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD) operates with a strategic focus on bridging the gap between scientific research and evidence-based policymaking. Within its governance and policy thematic area, the Academy acts as a think-tank that advises governments on strategies to leverage science, technology, and innovation (STI) for sustainable, socio-economic development, aligning with the African Union Agenda 2063 and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

The AcIRSTD Policy and Governance focus is designed to strengthen its role as an independent, non-political, and non-aligned organization. The strategy also involves fostering collaboration to improve the impact of these activities.

• Policy Advocacy – The Academy advocates for STI policy adoption to drive national industrial growth, agriculture, health, and environmental sustainability.

• Strategic Alignment – The policy area focuses on transforming lives through science by fostering partnerships between scientists and policymakers.

• Science Diplomacy – The Academy uses science diplomacy for conflict resolution, peace-building, and to foster international collaborations.

• Strengthening Science-Policy Interface – Creating mechanisms for scientists and policymakers to interact, ensuring that research directly informs public policy.

• Resource Mobilization for STI – Developing strategies to secure funding for scientific research, particularly for young researchers and female scientists.
