FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMME
The Academy is engaging even more deeply with a broad range of stakeholders and communities to help lead and shape public discourse about the role of science technology and innovation. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (FIR) heralds an age of AI and big data, machine learning, quantum computing, advanced gene editing technologies, the cloning of human organs to name but a few recent technological advances. With every new scientific breakthrough, there are risks to mitigate and wider social issues to debate - this is why the Academy is launching a series of Fellowships to provide thought leadership on these emerging scientific areas of interest.
Fellowships are programmes designed to attract talented international interdisciplinary scholars who are able to combine deep interest and expertise in science, technology and innovation with a broad appreciation of the social, cultural, economic, and technological complexities of our world. These Fellows will add to and expand the existing intellectual assets at the Academy and provide further opportunities for the exchange of exciting new research and ideas from across the world.
Fellowship was established to recognise the commitment and achievements of scientists, technologists and innovators. This is an accolade held by some of the most committed scientists, technologists and innovators who have shown a significant and sustained contribution to science, technology and innovation. It is a formal mark of their achievements, skills and expertise as a researcher. Fellowship is an opportunity to support career development and strengthen the research through the recognition of your expertise.
The AcIRSTD Fellowship comprises individuals who have reached the highest level of excellence in their field of expertise and have made contributions to the advancement of science and innovation in Nigeria and on the African continent.
The Fellows of the Academy are elected based on their achievements which include: their publication record; innovations; leadership roles; and contribution to society. Election into the AcIRSTD Fellowship is done through a rigorous review process.
Although the term “Fellow” is used generally to refer to all those elected into the AcIRSTD Fellowship, the Fellowship has three categories which include Fellow, Associate Fellow and Honorary Fellows
