HISTORY

In the increasingly competitive global economy, science, technology and innovation (STI) have become strategically more important in national and global development.  Science, technology and innovation (STI) are at the heart of modern life. STI are reshaping our lives in ways that would have been almost unimaginable to previous generations. Science, technology and innovation are the key drivers of economic development while simultaneously being the key to solving the challenges facing mankind.

The rapid advancements and the pervasive role of STI in the global economy necessitate the nation to build up and enhance its capability in Science, Technology and Innovation to take advantage of potential wealth creating opportunities.  In view of the above, a thrust should be made to harness STI as key drivers in raising the national capacity to acquire and utilize knowledge in Science and Technology to foster innovations.

The Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD) elements and strategies are the basis for the attainment of a scientifically and technologically advanced society and for a holistic approach to strengthen and develop Science, Technology and Innovation in Nigeria.  AcIRSTD goals also emphasize on capacity building and strengthening of Science, Technology and Innovation through intensification of advancement and dissemination as well as the application of knowledge and technologies in particular, the leading–edge technologies.

AcIRSTD was established by the International Association of Research Scholars & Administrators (IARSA), Nigeria and the International Association of Research Scholars & Administrators Corporation (IARSAC), Delaware, United States is an independent, nongovernmental, nonpolitical and merit-based academic organization comprised of Nigeria and America’s leading science, technology innovation scholars. The Academy was established as a purely private organization to lay the foundation of promoting science, technology and innovation community in Nigeria and other developing countries of the world.

A new era begins for the Academy; full of challenges and opportunities, re-emerging with new brilliance, full of energy and enthusiasm to promote scientific research, technological development and innovation; with the purpose of promoting the sustainable development of Africa; with a clear vision of being recognized nationally and internationally as the leading organization in promoting science, technology and innovation to sustainably develop of the continent.

The Academy constitutes an overarching statement that provides a framework for more specific policies and implementation plans.  They have been designed keeping in mind the social and material well being of the people of Nigeria and other developing countries, protection of the environment and the need for sustainable growth and development.  AcIRSTD provides a consistent, long-term framework for growth and development in Science, Technology and Innovation of the country, leading to the achievement of the status of a developed nation in the foreseeable future.

The Academy brings the world together through the power of science, technology and innovation; catalyses and convenes scientific expertise, advice and influence on issues of major concern to both science and society, through a unique global membership of natural and social sciences and humanities.

AcIRSTD’s fundamental purpose is to promote and support excellence in science, technology and innovation and to encourage the development and use of science for the benefit of humanity. The Academy continues to lead the way in ensuring that emerging scientific knowledge, engineering and technology, and advanced research are employed responsibly and for the benefit of all.

The Academy with the mission to promote the mobilization of the scientific community to act together with the constituted powers, aiming towards a national scientific and technological advance and the encouragement of innovation is focusing on applied basic research, strategic high-tech research, major public good research, as well as scientific and technological service for development.

AcIRSTD is making great efforts to become the powerhouse and pioneer in developing an international scientific and technological innovation centre in Nigeria. The Academy is aimed to further executing the innovation-driven development strategy, and in an increased effort to implement new scientific and technological innovation projects, leading projects of commercialization of scientific and technological results, talent development projects, and projects for developing scientific and technological conditions.

Looking to the future, AcIRSTD will pay greater attention to the new drive of innovation, constantly deepening reform, guiding and motivating various innovation entities and vast number of science and technology professionals  to take hard work as virtue , and pay tribute to action, so as to translate the abundant science and technology innovation results into a tremendous force in building a world-class harmonious livable capital, thus making new and bigger contribution to the development of a national scientific and technological innovation center, promoting the integrated development in Africa nations.
