Overview
In the Bachelor Degree completion programmes, working professionals who have earned some college credit follow a practical path to degree completion. Through previous college/university credit and experiential learning, and completion of a solid group of core courses and specialized courses, students can complete the degree programmes while working full-time.
The Bachelor Degree offers a high quality professional education. It prepares students for professional careers in specialized functions. Candidates for this degree must satisfy the requirements established by the national and international partner universities and colleges. All candidates for the B.Sc. degree are required to complete major and minor.
General Requirements
The undergraduate programmes serves society by graduating students, who possess a broad range of technical and interpersonal skills; who effectively deal inside and outside the organization, and across national and international boundaries; and who, through their work study programme, have had real world experiences in industrial or service organizations. Thus, the programme imparts knowledge, tools, skills and attitudes that create productive employees and managerial leaders.
Programmes of courses are provided which lead to Bachelor’s degree in the Colleges and Schools (College of Business Administration, School of English Programme, College of Computer Science & Technology and College of Education).
- The normal of a bachelor’s degree programme is three to four years (six to eight semesters) for students admitted to the 100-level and two to three years (four to six semesters) for students admitted to the 200-level.
- Students are normally admitted to either the 100-level of courses or the 200-level depending upon entry qualifications. The Academic Board may on the recommendation of the Board of Studies, permit students to start with other levels of courses.
- Students who transfer from other Universities, or who enter with HND or other approved professional qualifications to a level higher than 200-level; may apply towards degree requirements those credits passed before transfer which are within the curriculum of the faculty concerned.
- In order to be admitted to degree of Bachelor in one of the faculties of our partner universities and colleges, a candidate must:
- Satisfy the minimum entrance requirements (and where applicable the additional faculty requirements) in one of the ways provided in the regulations governing admission.
2. Follow an approved programme of study for a prescribed period.
3. Pass the required examinations set out in the detailed degree regulations of the several faculties.
4. Pay all fees prescribed as and when required.
5. Complete minimum 120 units with 36 units of general compulsory courses for all the Departments and 90 units of business core courses in the concentration.
6. Comply with such other regulations and requirements as may from time to time be prescribed.
- A candidate, whose work or progress is declared unsatisfactory by the Department concerned, may be required by the Board of Academic Studies, on the recommendation of the appropriate Faculty Board to withdraw from our partner national or international universities or colleges or to repeat any part of his/her programme. Failure in examination may be regarded as evidence of unsatisfactory progress.
- A Student who has failed to achieve the prescribed minimum Faculty requirements at the end of his/her first year shall be required to withdraw from the Faculty.
- A Student, who for reason of unsatisfactory academic progress has been asked to withdraw from the Faculty, may be considered for re-admission into another Faculty only as a special case. If such student is again is unsuccessful at the end of the first year in his/her new degree programme, he/she will be required to withdraw from our partner national or international universities or colleges.
- Continuous Evaluation: The progress of the students enrolled in each course is continuously assessed by means of tests; written assignments, reports, and/or such other means as may be consistent with the objectives and conduct of the course as determined by the Department.
- Final mark: Each course shall be graded on the basis of 100-level marks with proportions for continuous assessment and course examination as determined by the Faculty Board. The minimum pass mark in any course shall be 40%.
Date of Examination
Course examination leading to first degree in the faculty shall be held at the end of each semester via online. A candidate who for a grave cause was unable to present himself/herself for examination at the end of semester may, with the special permission of Board of Academic Studies, presents himself/herself for examination at the next available opportunity.
Entry for Examination
Every candidate entering for examination and in good standing will be supplied with an entry forms which must be returned duly filled. In completing his/her entry form, a candidate must state clearly the course he/she wishes to offer and give full details of examinations previously taken. The completed form shall be forwarded to the Secretary of Academic Board. A list of all students registered for an examination shall be issued by the Secretary of Academic Board or his representative three weeks before the examination begins.
Admission Procedures
- Complete the Application for Admission and submit it with a non-refundable application fee.
- Credit passes in five Ordinary Level Subjects in Senior School Certificate Education / West African School Certificate Education / General Certificate of Education / National Examination Council or their equivalent including English Language and Mathematics and other three relevant subjects, Ordinary Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND) and Professional Qualifications from recognized Polytechnics, Universities and Professional Bodies respectively.
- Two letters of reference affirming the applicant’s potential for scholarly, investigative, and creative endeavors regarding business administration.
- Submit official transcripts from the previous colleges and/or universities.
- A statement of educational objectives, specific focus of research, and programme and career goals.
- Provide four current color passport size photos.
- Optional: It is recommended that applicants submit course descriptions of Masters Degree courses to assist the Admissions Committee in determining if prerequisites have been met.
