ABOUT AcIRSTD

The Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD) is an authoritative academic organization comprised of Nigeria and America’s leading science, technology innovation scholars. The Academy adopts the mandate to create and train some of the best of tomorrow’s Science, Technology and Innovation leaders through a combination of innovative and novel curricula, pedagogy and evaluation. AcIRSTD’s focuses on imparting instruction and providing research opportunities in such areas that are not routinely taught in regular academic universities across the globe.

The Academy has established a framework for cutting-edge research in fields such as materials science, biotechnology, traditional/natural medicine, artificial intelligence and energy. The Academy’s research has resulted in significant advances in these fields, as well as new opportunities for developing innovative technologies.

AcIRSTD promotes interdisciplinary research by encouraging collaborations between scientists from different disciplines. The Academy also offers interdisciplinary research programmes and provides access to interdisciplinary research facilities and ensures the quality of research by adhering to strict ethical and professional standards. AcIRSTD also follows a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the scientific validity and relevance of research.

With continued research and development, the Academy has the potential to make even more significant contributions to the world’s scientific, technological and innovative advancements.

AcIRSTD has made significant progress in promoting innovative research and has contributed to the development of science, technology and innovation in the developing countries since its inception.

The Academy supports policy research and advisory activities of scholars in science, technology and innovation for the development of basic science and the creation of a healthy R&D eco-system. It also performs science education and cultural activities to nurture future talent.

Additionally, through exchanges and cooperation with overseas academies, AcIRSTD plays a crucial role in science, technology and innovation private diplomacy and works towards ensuring that ST&I contribute to the common good of humankind. The Academy communicates the importance of STI in terms of research, education, literacy, public discourse, and outreach. AcIRSTD implements a global Science Education Programme (SEP) which has the objective of improving science education and science literacy at the pre-university levels around the world.

The Academy main objective is to promote research, technological development and innovation in Nigeria and across the globe; where the country’s scientists and researchers present and debate their ideas, their research and their discoveries. AcIRSTD is committed to assist in the international and national development agenda and to advance the natural and cultural heritage of the nations of the world. As an important partner to the government, the Academy involves relevant government institutions, ministries, universities and other organizations in its effort to achieve its goals.

The Academy Fellows contribute to realizing the vision of the Academy through Working Groups by undertaking consensus studies, organizing conferences and workshops, recognizing excellence, and providing platforms where the scientific publications of Nigerian scholars are made accessible to the public. AcIRSTD embraces the diverse disciplines of science and technology and recognizes the irreplaceable role each play in developing innovation, creativity and enriching the quality of life for Nigerians and hence has and continues to make a concerted effort to ensure that the diverse disciplines of sciences are, as much as possible, represented in the composition of our Fellows and Working Groups.

The Academy receives contributions from its individual and corporate members and receives financial support from governmental agencies, especially those pertaining to the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovations and other national and international agencies. The Academy has been recognized by researchers of the history of science, as one of the newest academies of scientists, technologists and innovators in the world and admittedly the most prestigious among these entities.

AcIRSTD has developed research activities, disseminated through a series of internal and external publications (studies, working papers, policy papers, policy-graphics and books) and the organization of events (annual conferences, policy workshop meetings and joint seminars) to bring together leading researchers, policy makers and representatives across the globe to discuss and debate optimal policies for the future of their countries.

The Academy ultimately contributes to the general objective of reinforcing dialogue and promoting international, national and regional socio-economic research and studies in priority themes of the Nigerian-American Partnership, particularly focusing on employment creation, social inclusion, sustainable development and regional integration. AcIRSTD also ensures the dissemination of the results of these studies and research to civil society and socio-economic policy makers.
