Development of Water Purification Technology
Water is also needed for many industrial processes. And, water is crucial in providing environmental services. Recently we have noticed it is key to aid in confronting health threats as pandemics
Water purification technology research focuses on clean water access, targeting physical, chemical, and biological contaminants through methods like reverse osmosis, membrane filtration, advanced nanomaterials, and decentralized solar-powered systems to eliminate complex pollutants efficiently.
The primary research aim for developing a new water purification technology focuses on contamination analysis, system design, and performance evaluation. Key goals include designing an efficient, low-cost, and eco-friendly system that removes physical, chemical, biological contaminants to provide safe drinking water, and testing treated water against safety standards
The Researchers at the Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD), and the National Water Research Institute (NWRI) will collaborate to develop a hybrid membrane-based water purification technology. The expected outcome of this is the creation of a clean, safe, and low-cost drinking water system, which includes high pathogen removal, energy efficiency, and scalable design for off-grid areas.
Program Goals
To build scientific capacity through a program of training sessions and publication of informational material on development of water purification technology and its management.
To provide independent scientific advice on water purification technology for policymakers, water managers and the public.
To share science-based management practices with stake holders.
To provide independent scientific knowledge on potential threats to the sustainability of water purification technology and potential management practices to ensure sustainability.
