Drug Discovery for Neglected Diseases
Drug discovery for neglected diseases focuses on creating safe, affordable treatments for illnesses like malaria, tuberculosis, and sleeping sickness that mostly affect poor populations and lack commercial market incentives.
The Academy of Innovative Research, Science & Technological Development (AcIRSTD) is actively involved in the discovery of new drugs for neglected diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria in collaboration with the the Accademia Nazionale di Medicina (AccMed), Italy. The research team has identified a number of potential drug candidates that have shown promise in preclinical trials, which is expected to create safe, effective, and affordable treatments for populations that are ignored by traditional commercial markets.
The research will focus on identifying new chemical entities, improving existing treatments, and ensuring affordability, target identification, high-throughput screening, and drug repositioning.
